Default Questions about UFC and MMA?

I began having interest in ufc and fighting. I just would like to know what days its on and stuff for the live stuff. All I ever see is shows like UFC biggest knockouts and stuff like that. My second question is if I wanted to become a UFC fighter what type of fighting would you suggest me doing? I have no background in anything except wrestling which I did 4 years ago for 1 year, and was undefeated in 3 tournaments and was on A-mat which is for the good ppl. btw im 5'9 and 140 lbs and im 16

Okay, so there are UFC events on pay per view that average out to about twice a month. On Spike TV they show older highlight shows that show the best fights from various UFC events. On Versus, they show the WEC, which is like the UFC minor leagues and has some great lightweight fighters. UFC Fight Nights are on every couple of months and are free live events on Spike TV, there is one on September 17th actually.

I would suggest getting on the wrestling team again if you want something that is maybe less expensive, since it's run through your school. Major disciplines that are in MMA are Brazilian Jujitsu, Muay Thai, Kick Boxing, Boxing, Judo and so on. BJJ is always good because it is essential to ground game, so if you would want to take classes in that, plus it would help you utilize wrestling skills.

You could also look into any MMA gyms around your area because they will teach multiple skills needed in MMA.

There are lots of re-runs on Spike, Fox, Versus, and FX if you have any say in your household's programming. Many Pride FC and UFC fights are available through Blockbuster, Netflicks, and even your public libraries' interlibrary loan programs.

You need to focus on a martial art that is practiced as a contact sport such as wrestling, boxing, kickboxing, judo, muay thai, Sambo, or even Brazilian jiu jitsu. That way all of the elements like fitness, nutrition, injuries, callousing, toughness, and even making weight become part of your lifestyle. If your school doesn't offer wrestling, check with the YMCA, local youth clubs, and local dojos.
