Default Why is the Houston Rockets the #5 seed?

They had a better record than the Utah Jazz. And so did San Antonio. Like hockey, the Jazz should have been the # 3 seed for winning their division. So if the Rockets have a better record, then they should be the #4 seed and the Jazz should be the #5 seed. This does not make any sense.

The NBA playoff rules state that the top 4 seeds consist of the 3 division winners, which in this case were the Hornets, Lakers, and Jazz. The other spot is open to one team that has a better record than another division winner, which in this case was the Spurs(Who I hate). If the Rockets had a better record than the Spurs, then the Rockets would be #3 and the Spurs would be #5, but if the Jazz had a better record than the Spurs and the rockets, then the Jazz would be #3. It's still a little complicated, but I don't make the rules, the NBA does.

Utah is number 4 because of their being divisional leaders. IT shows, they need to be 9th not 5th. The way they're playing i'm mad they got in.

Houston should be a #4 seed, IF all teams were based on individual performances throughout the course of the year. However, seeing they are spread out in different conferences, kjndly puts deserving teams at a disadvantage. Yeah, it really sucks!!

WHY DOES IT MATTER ? The Rockets still got home court advantage.... and if they just based it off records the Rockets would be #4 and the Jazz would be #5 and they would still be in the SAME EXACT SITUATION as now.. so the #4 is just a meaningless number.

The reason the Jazz are the #4 seed tho, is because the NBA has a rule where a division winner cant be lower than the #4 seed.
