Could the Boston Celtics learn from the Sacramento Kings?
Since the Celtics don't have a true point guard, but do have a big man who passes very well, should they run an offense similar to Sacramento's with Webber and Bibby? Although Mike Bibby is a great point guard he only handled the ball and made plays part time, Webber and Divac usually made plays for others from the post and got a ton of assist. All three players averaged around 4 or 6 assist per game.
With Ray Allen taking the place of Bibby and Kevin Garnett taking the place of Webber do you think it would work?
I believe the offense the Kings ran back then, under coach Rick Adleman was called the "Princeton Offense".

Rajon Rondo would be the best point guard in the NBA if he could shoot! The Suns didnt need to trade him, they needed to keep him for 2 years then trade him. He is a monster when it comes to steals, and rebounding. He is lightning quick, and he can pass really good too. He can jump and dunk that ball pretty good to be 6'1. Give this guy Steve Nash's shooting ability and you got a sure hall of famer. I watched him alllll through school, played against him, GOT KILLED, and it just so happened Telfair comitted to Louisville(went Pro though) that sent Rondo to my Kentucky Wildcats. So I know all about what this guy can do. Trust me the Celtics will have a true PG with Rondo in a year or so.

Well, they don't have a well developed point guard, but you don't want to be trying to run the whole thing through KG, 'cause then you reduce Allen and Pierce to spot up shooters. They're far better than that. These guys would actually be really well suited to the triangle, if it didn't take a year to learn, and need a coach who really understands it. You're other option then, in order to utilise these guys in the princeton, is to put Pierce in post up situations a lot - which he is very good in. But that means he has to retain his weight, and given the fact that he missed 30-some games last year, and more weight = more stress on the body, that might not be a great idea either. The alternative then, (and one which Doc Rivers can probably teach) is a pick and roll series, which would force double teams and inevitably leave one of the three open. In an ideal world though, I'd choose the triangle.

You're right about the Princeton offense being applied by Rick Adleman, but I don't think it will be applied in this case. It's generally a slow developing offense (all players on the court must be able to make the 3-point shot, it's based on a lot of motion of offense, back door passes, etc). It's also generally applied by teams facing an opposition with athletically superior athletes (not so much the case for the Celtics team). They have a lot of athletic ability, and are very quick for big men.
I think they'll probably apply this in cases where they want to slow the game down, but not in all cases.... As they have both the size to dominate inside and pass out (as you said), and the speed to press if given the opportunity.
