Default How did Dirk Nowitzki win the 07' MVP over Nash when Nash had a better...

...year than his own MVP years? Since Nash's 07' year was better than his 05' and 06' MVP years, -Did the NBA effectively say with giving Dirk the trophy that he had the best individual season in the last 3 years ? Are they seriously saying that...
I agree 100% about not wanting to give Nash the 3-peat, however, politics should not play this big a role in sports as this was a huge example of what is considered the biggest individual award in the entire world of that sport being taken away from a deserving man based on a political initiative. It may feel as if it works for the best on a small scale but ultimately the integrity of the game is compromised.

because its not about what you did in the past but what you did this year. As well as what the other teams did. Mavs had a huge year and Dirk had one of his best years. So they decided to give it to dirk.

Unfortunately, I have no doubt that many of the voters would have voted for Nash if he hadn't already won two in a row. I don't think people see Nash as that big of a superstar. Michael Jordan didn't even win 3 MVPs in a row.

I think Nash did deserve it, and maybe he can make a run for it again this season.

Lol, Dirk makes everyone around him better while Nash has a team of super stars around him? I think you got that the other way around sir.

How far did Dirk Bring his team in the playoffs last year? hmmm

How Dismal was the Suns before Nash came to the team? Enough said.
If you want proof, look at the record of the Sun before Nash joined the team. I think it's pretty much proven that it doesnt matter how many super stars you have on a team, because if you dont have a leader to lead them, they'll do just as shitty as the Suns did before acquiring Nash. The reason the team is so good now is all because of Nash.

Dirk does not make his team better at all lol. What, cuz he puts up good numbers makes him help make his team better? i dont think so.

The reason why Nash did not win 3 times in a row is because:

1. They dont want a Canadian up there as one of the elite few to have a 3-peat. I mean basketball is so Americanized that they're so scared to have a non-american in there as one of the all time greatest. I mean where would you guys be if a CANADIAN did not invent the sport in the first place.

2. People think he's no where near as great as Bird or Russell. Well let me tell you something, when did they win their 3 peat? was it in the last 15 years? And lets be honest here, has the game changed from when they played to the game it is now? Of course it has. So how can you compare a player who's playing so amazing now to players back then when the game was not even close to the speed, intensity and style played now. Steve Nash plays like an MVP in the Game of Basketball Today, while Bird and Russell did it during their time.

Long story short, Nash is one of the greatest in the game, maybe not all-time, but might be, but definitely one of the greastest now. And he deserves every bit of being a 3-time consecutive MVP

RE: Like i said Squirm, go look up the Suns record before they got Nash and go look at the record of the Mavs the same year. Now you tell me, how can all that talent on the suns team, like you say, Need Nash to win? lol

dirk will show you why this year. nash is a great player no doubt, but that's why dallas let him go. he's not a PG of a championship winning team. when the parade is going through dallas this year you can re-ask this question, and have people laughing at you. and to say dirk has more talent around him? hmmm who would you rather have? marion and amare, or howard and terry? that's what i thought dirk for MVP x2(and go ahead and throw in a finals MVP to go with that)
