Default Will Alex Rodriguez live up to expectations this year?

I don't think so. He always has "bad" years after winning the MVP award.

Well he wont have a year like he did last season, but he can turn it around and light pitchers up in the second half.
my biggest concern is producing in the playoffs, but the way the yanks look its unlikely theyll even get there

With Arod, it's almost always about his mind, and not his ability. Which is probably the reason why his "bad" years have come after winning the MVP. Arod tends to put too much pressure on himself, and has not yet learned to consistently allow his talent to take over (might never learn at this point).

It looks like he'll miss at least 20 to 25 games this year. The last time he missed that many in one season was in 1999 when he only played 129 games, but still put up 42 HRs, 111 RBIs, and scored 110 runs. So, we know that Arod don't need a lot of games to put up huge numbers.

Interestingly, I think missing all these games might actually help Arod mentally. Maybe he won't focus so much on his overall stats and production. Maybe he'll remember how he handled his season last year. At least now, he knows he won't match his production from last season, and stop worrying about that. In any case, I hope at some point, he'll figure it out.

He's losing a lot of at-bats because of his quad injury. That's going to impact his numbers at the end of the year. However, even with that, he should hit 35 homers or so.

That's a disappointment for HIM... but not bad in any way.

He won't put up numbers like last year but he will still put better numbers than most of the players in MLB

Last year was a career for him and coincidently, a contract year.

Even without his injury, I think he was in for an off year.

No, hes an overrated play, the contract he signed was a waste for the Yankees. They wont waste the money, have him sit on the bench, if they bring up a rookie and put him there (at third).
He'll probably have a normal year after the all-star break.
But his injry will set him back for about a month or to after coming off of the DL
