what should the San Francisco Giants lineup look like?
Ok a 13 to 4 loss today shows everyone who like sports that we need to rebuild, asap. Dump Aurilia, Durham, Roberts, Vizquel, and Winn. Leave our pitching alone!
Im tired of watching the Giants sign big names who dont do shit for us. We need to get even more younger and more athletic. We also have to become a better defensive team to support our amazing pitching. If we trade all those names above or power will go down but its already the worst in the league so who cares. We hit singles, so get as much speed on the bases as possible.
Velez - 2B
Lewis - RF
Schierholtz - LF
Rowand - CF
Molina - C
Castillo - 3B
Ortmeier - 1B
Bocock - SS
The lineup above is very athletic, very fast, and very young. Only one man over thirty.
My prediction is that if we go with a lineup like this, we will finish with at least ten more wins than with our current one.
Molina is more than just our number 4 hitter he is amazing with our pitchers, which have very little to no experience. If you dont think Lewis or Davis are ready for everyday play platoon them, they arent goning to get any better getting just one at bat a game, they need to have a good strech where they start at least 20 out of 25 games. Teams will want all the players I named, down the stretch someones 2nd baseman is going to get hurt and will trade for Durham or Aurilia, etc. and were not going to do anything on offense anyway so why keep someone who we can get a prospect for. Vizquel is going to be gone next year, he'll be 42 or something and will want a big contract, which he doesnt deserve, even though he is still an amazing fielder.
o yea n u gay dodger fan who wasted ur time to say that unoriginal comment thanks...we now know ur gay. Jones wont do shit and dont forget one of ur biggest offensive threats was a Giant once, and ur GM used to work for ours, n like 2 years ago u had like 7 player who used to be Giants, so shut the fuck up, BITCH!!!!

ok... as an avid giants fan... i feel your pain. trust me... it kills watching highlights so far. but here is what i have to say:
the giants are OLD!!! they needed verterans to take the media load off of Barry for a bit... but now that barry is gone they need to go as well. aurilia, durham, roberts, winn, and kline need to get kicked out. the huge problem is... WHO THE HELL WANTS THEM?!?!?!? teams are stoked we got stuck with them and have no need for an old guy who will hit barely .250 when they can get a kid in AA ball to do the same thing. that is going to kill the giants because there will be no buyers for anyone they need to get rid of.
yes the pitching is off the hook as far as starters go, but you can't deny we need bullpen help. valdez is promising so far, but behind him i really don't feel comfortable with anyone else stopping the bleeding in any game. and it kills me that nathan and accardo are on fire elsewhere when we are dying in the bullpen. and as much as having so many old guys around sucks... they gotta help the rookies into the bigs. vizquel and molina have gotta teach the next year guys as much as they can before we get rid of them. the kids are bound to start this season when the giants end up with a 15-50 record and we give up all hope that is still there. we aren't amazing in the farm leagues... but with some work it could be decent for a couple years.
young doesn't always mean good. you gotta find what combos work and get the pieces to fit those roles. we need power! i predict no giant hitter has more than 25 hr's this year and nobody with 100 rbi's.
sabien needs to take a hike and we need to get someone that knows good baseball and we will be better off. i blame him for the mess we are in. zito needs to earn his keep... and rowand was a raw deal. i'd rather have given him one year for 6 million and got some young kids the have more potential for much cheaper. why do you think every other team was scared to give him a long term deal?!?!
so put up the sign "San Francisco Giants: where the old guys come to play" and suck up a season that is going to be extemely hard to watch and is going to hurt terribly... and pray we are lucky and get 60 wins and not set the record for most losses in a season. 6 years out of being 2 innings away from a World Series title... and we are this bad. thanks sabien

whoa whoa whoa...I'm all for dumping Aurillia, Durham and Roberts, but not Winn and Vizquel.
Winn is one of the only Giants to hit at or above .300 for the past 2 seasons and Vizquel? Well...he's Omar-freakin-Vizquel, baseball's version of the human highlight reel. I think Bocock is def proving himself worthy of the spot, but what happens when he needs a day off or needs to take some games off to rest? Imagine Bocock being a starter and having Omar Vizquel as his backup. When the Giants can do something like that, then thats when we fans can start talking about having a shot at the post season.
If anything, I say get rid of Molina. He provides a false sense of security with his bat. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the #4 hitter should be projected to hit more than 20 hr's in a season [which Molina is not]. He's fairly good on defense, but he's horrible at throwing out runners, running the bases, and hitting in clutch situations. Honestly, the Giants could pick a name out of a hat to decide who their clean up hitter will be. Anybody else in that spot could do as well [if not better] than Molina being that NONE of the Giants are expected to hit more than 20 hr's this season.
As for Lewis in RF, I dont think he [or Davis] are ready to play everyday yet. They still need another year of solid platoon work to get them game ready.
